The demand placed upon modern filtration equipment to achieve outlet dust emissions lower than the ever reducing allowable levels cannot easily be met without the installation of special filter media.
The concept of surface filtration has been used very effectively in the selection of these medias for various applications for two reasons. Firstly, we want to encourage the collection predominantly in this 'surface layer', enhancing a dust cake helping to improve filtration, thus protecting, the remainder of the felt from undesired particles. Consequently the needled felt remains more open/flexible and functional. Secondly, the fact that this critical 'top layer' consist of more expensive tri and multi-lobal fibers but is relatively thin - as compared to a 100% such felt - we achieve a much more balanced result, less expensive and equally effective. |
